Sitting at the Crossroads

Often we sit at the crossroads of life, and we make decisions for the future based on fear. We seek to do what is comfortable and what seems easy. But, how would life change if each morning we sat at God’s feet and waited on Him? What would happen if we waited on Him and did things His way rather than the way everyone else is doing it? What would happen if we woke up and asked God, “Where to next?” Would we have less stress and anxiety? Would we be more confident in His love?❤️Would we trust Him more fully? Would we move forward in God’s plan for us without doubting? I can assure you the answer to the last three questions is yes. When we sit at the feet of Jesus daily, there is less stress, more confidence, and less doubting. Does that mean God clearly lays out for you His plan for the rest of your life? No, it means God gives you the instructions for the day and covers you in His love each morning. It means He teaches you to trust Him as He unfolds His plan for your life. So get up each morning, sit at His feet, and ask, “Where to next?” You’ll be amazed what a commitment to meet with Him and a willing spirit to obey will do for you. #leanintojesus #trust#lovecastsoutfear #hisplans #hislove

Gain a Heart of Wisdom

Image may contain: one or more people and text

Our days are endless and too numerous to count, at least that is how we behave. We have bought into the illusion that life is endless, and we will always have time for _________ later. However the reality is time on earth is but a moment. Not one of us knows how much time we have left, so don’t waste it. Don’t waste the best years of your life working, but missing your kids grow up. Don’t waste the best years of your life on activities that don’t have eternal value. Our God is relational, and He desires us to be relational as well. He calls us to number our days and to use each one to grow closer to Him and closer to each other. God calls us to be His light to a world that needs Him. He calls us to be relational with people even though they are difficult for us. As we learn to number each day and use it for Him, He will change our hearts. He will essentially give us a heart transplant, where our heart will beat in rhythm with His. He will give us His heart of wisdom. Don’t waste your time on this earth. Use every day to bring Him glory and gain His wisdom. #leanintojesus#lovewell #trusthisplan #his #numberyourdays #gainaheartofwisdom

Be Resolved

We live in a world that is often hostile to God and His ways. Sin and hostility to God and His people are not new to this world. As you look throughout Scripture, there is evidence of hostility and sin within God’s Family and pressing in from outside God’s Family. So if this is true, how did people of the past deal with this? Well let’s look at Daniel. Daniel was captured and taken as a slave by the conquering Babylonians. He was was offered the best the culture had to offer in food, wine, education, and opportunities. But…he knew these privileges came at the price of dishonoring His God. So how did He resist the culture and in fact change the culture He was forced to live within? How did He proclaim the glory of God in such a hostile environment? First, Daniel resolved in his heart that he would not defile himself or dishonor his God. He chose to resist the privileges of his culture and to seek to live a godly life in-spite of the culture. He chose to seek God for solutions rather than depending on himself. He chose to pray regularly and to seek God. He chose to trust God would do the impossible on his behalf. He chose to know God and to stand respectfully in opposition to his culture. What is God asking you to do today? Where do you need to have more boldness today? What do you need to purpose in your heart to resist today? Stand firm. Pray often. Live countercultural. #lovewell #leanintojesus #resolvetohonorgod #seekhim #his

Understanding God’s Plans

Image may contain: text
Often God’s Word is extremely clear and there is no doubt what is expected of us. However, many times a situation will develop that is not clearly spoken of in Scripture, and we ponder what we are suppose to do. It is in these moments, that we can get poor advice from well meaning friends and family. It is in these moments, when God creates context and understanding that is difficult to explain to others. It is in these moments, however, when we must cling to Jesus and His Word. We must immerse ourselves in Him and allow Him to create understanding. And when He speaks, we must obey His instructions and put them into practice with all of our heart. Even when the whole picture isn’t clear, choose to do the things you know He has asked of you. Live out the heart of your Father when you don’t understand anything else. Love people well. Speak the TRUTH in love. Extend grace and forgiveness! Live a life worthy of your calling. It is not man who we seek to please. Seek God’s understanding and please Him alone. #leanintojesus #clingtowhatisgood❤️#lovewell #his #obey #hisways

Wait in the Silence, Hope in God

Image may contain: text

When there is a moment of silence, we often try to fill it with words. But resist and wait on the Lord. When there is silence from God, we get upset and frustrated. However it is during these moments of silence that we realize what we have learned about God and where we need to learn more. These moments of silence are where we realize where our hope is anchored. Silence often first makes us anxious, frustrated, angry, and even doubtful. However, as we learn to sit in silence with God, we realize that He has never left us, and He has been speaking all along. He has been training and preparing us to be like Him. Now our job is to walk in that hope and rest in that hope. Our job is to sit and the feet of Jesus daily and rest in His presence. God didn’t create “human doings”; He created human beings. So stop doing so much to try to please God. Instead start being with God, and He will direct your doings. Let yourself sit at the feet of Jesus and silently rest content that He is all that you need.#leanintojesus #trust #rest #silence #his#myhopeisinhim

Fear Not

Fear is a crippling component of life. Fear robs us of peace, confidence, relationships, rest, opportunities, and above all pure love. In our lives, we will either choose fear or we will choose true love. We will choose to be angry, bitter, and afraid or we will choose to forgive, show kindness, and love people well. God offers us a choice: Himself, which is love, and allow Him to cast out all fears or fear which is the absence of love and leads to selfishness, a fear controlled life. As I look back at my life, I can see many times when fear directed my thought and acts, and they are not pretty. There are other times when I have allowed God to throw out all fear and amazing things happened. However fear isn’t something you put away once and it’s done; instead, it is a daily choice. So when, not if, you are afraid, put your trust in God. He will destroy fear and bring confidence and hope. #his #loved #fearnot #leanintojesus#lovewell

Responsibilities

Being joyful is a choice. It is a choice to be focused on Christ. It is a choice to look at Him and to depend upon Him. Growing in spiritual maturity is a choice to plant yourself in God’s word. It is a choice to cling to God’s word daily, moment by moment. It is a choice to stop drinking milk when God has offered a full meal. Encouragement is also a choice. It is a choice to speak life into someone’s life. It is a choice to spur someone on to good works. It is a choice to have tough conversations in love. It is a choice to live in harmony and peace with one another. All of these choices are for your good and His glory. All of these choices lead to a greater understanding of our God and closer relationship with Him. You see, you don’t have to make all of these choices on your own and in your own strength. Instead the God of love and peace will make these choices with you. He will never leave you nor forsake you. So today choose Christ. Choose to focus on the things that matter to Him. CHOOSE joy, maturity, and to be an encourager. #his #leanintojesus #hisglory

Keep Your Mouth Walled Up

Image may contain: text
Walls have been used to safe guard and protect people for thousands of years. In modern society they are so common place that we have forgotten their value. The walls of my home keep out invaders, burglars, unwanted critters, bad weather, and numerous other things that I would consider unwelcome. Walls play an important role in life, as does showing self-control. Self-control is like the wallaround a city. It helps protect us from misusing our emotions. We need to learn to control many of our emotions that we allow to run rampant too often in our lives. Yes, emotions are ok to have and are part of the beauty that God made within us. However not every emotion needs to be expressed in full force whenever we want. Instead we need to allow God to shape and mold our emotions, especially our tempers, to be used as tools to accomplish His plan. We need to wall up and control ourselves more than we often do. Anger is an emotion that can cause great damage if it is not controlled. Therefore when we do not allow the Holy Spirit to control it, we are making ourselves very vulnerable to attacks by the enemy. In essence we have torn down the wall (self-control) that God created within us for our protection. Therefore today seek God. Ask Him to repair the walls that you have torn down or have damaged with your lack of self-control. Ask forgiveness of those you may have damaged with your temper and self-righteousness. Seek healing from God and forgiveness from others. Seek God and allow Him to restore self-control within you. #seekhim#leanintojesus #selfcontrol #his #buildawall

Security

Security is one of our most basic needs. When we feel insecure, we make foolish choices. We chase after money for security. We chase after fame. We chase after achievements or even relationships as a means of feeling secure. However all of this striving for security and ultimately significance leaves us wanting. Why? Because we are looking for security in the things of this world rather than God. It is God that we must cling to daily. It is God that holds us secure and creates our sense of security. Security is a result of a deep relationship with Him where He is all we need. So today, when you feel insecure and your weaknesses are being exposed, cling to God and His right hand will hold you secure. #his #leanintojesus #cling #secure
